Uitzichtloos are a band from the Netherlands that plays a very raw, melodic, mid paced and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Nevelmasker" which was released by Vacula Productions.
A very slow, raw and epic black metal sound starts off the album along with some deep depressive screams and melodic guitar leads and you can also hear a decent amount of melody in the guitar riffing as well and the first song sticks to mostly to a slow or mid paced direction and setting the perfect atmosphere for the album.
On the second track the music speeds up a bit and at times and adds more of a melodic black metal feeling to the recording and acoustic guitars are also introduced in this track as well while the following song sees the band adding in spoken word parts and ritualistic sounds in the beginning before returning back to a mid paced direction as well as the bass guitars having a more powerful presence this time around along with the band adding in a small amount of doom metal influences and the remaining of the album sticks to more of the slow to mid paced style of playing while also having its fast moments at times along with a small amount of blast beats.
Uitzichtloos bring s in a great amount of sorrow with their raw and melodic sound which focuses more on a mid paced take of this genre while also bringing in atmosphere from the melodies, the production has a very dark and raw sound while the lyrics are written in Dutch and cover dark and depressive themes.
In my opinion Uitzichtloos are a very great sounding raw and melodic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Nevelmasker" "Oog van de Duivel" and "Uwe Majesteit". 8 out of 10.
