Lidelse are a band with members from Austria, Sweden and U.S.A that plays an atmospheric and depressive form of black metal and this is a review of their self released and self titled 2014 ep.
A very distorted black metal sound starts off the ep along with some drum beats and after a couple of minutes post metal style melodies are added into the music along with some grim sounding black metal screams a few seconds later and all 3 of the tracks on the recording are very long and epic in length.
At times the vocals bring in a depressive black metal feeling and the songs stick mostly to a slower direction and you can also hear a doom metal influence in the bands musical sound at times and the songs also bring in a suicidal feeling in some parts and there is also a brief use of clean playing and atmospheric sounds on a couple of the tracks along with a brief use of spoken word parts and when solos and leads are added into the music they bring in more of a melodic depressive black metal sound and the ep closes with some depressive sounding synths
Lidelse plays a style of post black metal that can be very depressive at times as well as being atmospheric at times, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes.
In my opinion Lidelse are a very great sounding atmospheric and depressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Atrocious". 8 out of 10.
