Sarkom are a band from Norway that plays a very fast and aggressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "Doomsday Elite" which was re-issued on cassette in 2014 by Bylec-Tum.
A very fast, raw and dark black metal sound starts off the cassette along with blast beats and grim sounding high pitched screams as well as a great amount of melody and a small amount of spoken word parts and the solos and leads also bring in a great amount of melody along with the band bringing in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
A small amount of folk music style flutes can be heard briefly on a couple of the tracks and at times they vocals go into a deeper direction adding a touch of death metal to the recording and on some of t he tracks the guitars bring in more of a modern technical black metal style and some of the songs bring an atmospheric edge to the music.
As the album progresses a small amount of synths are brought in for a few seconds while the main focus remains more on a guitar driven style of black metal and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and there is a great amount of diversity present throughout the recording and all of the songs bring in a very different sound while you can still easily tell it is the same band playing them all.
Sarkom plays a style of black metal that is very heavy, fast and aggressive while also incorporating a good amount of melody, some atmospheric elements and a great amount of talent and skill while the music is purely done in a true black metal tradition, the production sounds very heavy and powerful while the lyrics are written mostly in English along with one song in Norwegian and they cover Anti Religion, Death, Hatred and Blasphemy themes.
In my opinion Sarkom are a very great sounding fast and aggressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this cassette. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Doomsday Elite" "Inside A Haunted Chapel" and "Cosmic intellect". 8 out of 10.
