The Negation are a band from France that plays a very raw and nihilistic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Memento Mori" which will be released in July by Kaotoxin.
A very dark soundscape intro starts off the album before adding in high pitched screams, fast black metal riffs and brutal blast beats and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the songs also bring in a decent amount of melody along with soem parts that are death metal influenced.
When solos and leads are utilized they are very raw and chaotic sounding while also being melodic at the same time and some of the tracks also bring in a small amount of spoken word parts while other tracks also show the vocals getting more deep and grim and all of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them.
As the album progresses some of the songs start incorporating more thrash elements while the main focus remains on a fast style of black metal and a few of the tracks are also long and epic in length and they close the album with a 4 minute outro that also brings atmospheric sounds onto the recording.
The Negation plays a style of black metal that is very fast, raw and melodic and also brings back a heaviness that is very rarely heard in this genre these days, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover nihilism themes.
In my opinion The Negation are a very great sounding fast and nihilistic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The True Enemy" "A Prayer For The Ones I Have To Kill" and "Resistance". 8 out of 10.
