Sicarius are a band from inland Empire, California that plays a murderous, bloodthirsty and ultra-violent form of black metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Serenade Of Slitting Throats" which was released by M-Theory Audio.
A very tragic piano starts off the album before adding in some heavy and dark sounding riffing while the faster sections of the songs bring in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling along with the vocals being mostly angry and hateful sounding black metal screams.
Deep growls can also be heard at times while the music has a great amount of 90's influenced but done in more of a modern fashion along with a small amount of melody and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as the solos and leads being done in a very melodic yet chaotic style, clean playing can also be heard briefly and a couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
Sicarius plays a style of black metal that is very raw, chaotic and violent sounding while also having its melodic moments, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover war, terror, murder, chaos and darkness themes.
In my opinion Sicarius are a very great sounding murderous, bloodthirsty, and ultra-violent black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ferox Impetum" "Marshalling The Garroted" "Serpent Soul" and "Wampyr". 8 out of 10.
