Sisyphean are a band from Lithuania that plays an atmospheric and decadent mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Illusions Of Eternity" which will be released on Halloween by Drakkar Productions.
A very heavy, melodic and atmospheric sound starts off the album along with the solos and leads also using a great amount of melody while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and after the intro high pitched black metal screams and grim growls are added onto the recording.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some tracks also adding in a small amount of clean guitars.
The music also mixes in a decent amount of death metal elements while also keeping everything modern and in some parts of the music the riffing and leads get more dissonant along with a couple of later tracks also brings in a small amount of spoken word parts and some of the leads also add in a touch of post black metal.
Sisyphean plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric and decadent while also displaying more aggression than most bands of that style as well as mixing in elements of death metal to create something different, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover destruction, decadence and war themes.
In my opinion Sisyphean are a very great sounding atmospheric and decadent mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Epitaph To The Remnants" and "Transfigurations". 8 out of 10.
