Spite are a solo project from New York that has been featured before in this zine and plays a satanic and occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "The Third Temple" which will be released in September by Invictus Productions.
A very dark, heavy and melodic sound starts off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams and the solos and leads also add in a great amount of melody.
A couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. The album also adds in a good mixture of both modern and old school influences along with the vocals getting more deeper sounding as the album progresses, when spoken word parts are utilized they also add in more of a ritualistic atmosphere and the whole recording also sticks to a heavier direction.
On this recording Spite expands on the satanic and occult style of black metal that he has introduced on previous releases. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the apocrypha of Salpsan, the antichrist incarnate.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Spite and if you are a fan of satanic and occult black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Blackened Talmudist" "Yahweh's Vengeance" "Where Dust Cannot Fall" and "The Third Temple". 8 out of 10.
