This is a review of a split ep between Finland's Blood Red Fog and Verge called "Prism Of Darkness/Second Mortification" which will be released in October by Wolfmond Production and we will start off the review with Blood Red Fog who return with an atmosphericl and depressive style of black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with some clean playing before going into more of a heavier and melodic direction. Vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams along with the synths also giving the song more of an atmospheric touch when they are utilized, when the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can b e heard which also gives the song more of a raw feeling. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness, death and destruction themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding track from Blood Red Fog and if you are a fan of atmospheric and depressive black metal, you should check out their side of the split.
Next up is Verge who return with their occult style of black metal.
their side of the split starts out with a very dark yet heavy sound while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with the song also adding in some atmospheric touches. The production sounds very dark and raw and the lyrics cover occultism, misanthropy and negativity themes.\
In my opinion this is another great sounding track from Verge and if you a re a fan of occult black metal, you should check out their track.
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of Finnish black metal. 8 out of 10.
