Neldoreth are a band from Pennsylvania that plays a very satanic form of black metal with elements of death metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "The Saints Of Blasphemy - 1:Baptized In Blasphemy" which was released by Extremenial Productions.
"Diabolicae Baptismum" begins with some organ and thunder sounds which leads to some spoken word ritualistic passages along with some bells and serves as an intro for the album.
"Baptized In Blasphemy" begins with some death metal style guitar riffs and drums before going into a faster and primitive direction along with some high pitched black metal screams while also keeping the death metal elements around as well as switching back and forth between the mid paced and fast parts and after awhile there is a brief use of dark guitar solos which utilize some melody.
"Spawn Of Creation" starts off with some heavy and dark sounding guitar riffs along with some drums and screams before speeding up a bit and heading more into an old direction along with some death metal style growls and switching back and forth between mid paced and fast parts as well as adding in demonic screams and after awhile there is a brief use of 90's style satanic death metal guitar leads which mix in with the rhythms.
"Christian Depotism" begins with some dark guitar riffs and drums along with some leads which leads to some screams and melody being added to the riffing and as the song moves on blast beats make their presence known briefly before going into a more slow and mid paced direction along with some thrash influences being thrown in and also speeding up at times and after a few minutes guitar solos start kicking in along with some classic metal melodies before making a return to the rhythms.
"Drink From From The Seven Chalices" begins with some avant garde sound effects and spoken word ritualistic parts and there are no other musical instruments with the song focusing more on being a satanic ritual and towards the end there are some high pitched black metal screams.
"Ritual Suicide" begins with some dark sounding occult black metal guitar riffs and drums which leads to some high pitched black metal s creams along with some powerful bass playing in the background, after a minute acoustic guitars make their presence known with some finger picking as well as amplified effects before getting heavy again and adding in some melody along with guitar leads and mixing in some more primal elements staying in that direction for awhile before returning to the guitar acoustics and adding in full chords this time around along with some bells in the background and getting heavy again with another guitar lead and more powerful bass playing and remaining in that direction for the next few minutes while also switching back and forth between slow and fast parts and the song ends with some acoustic guitars and melodic leads.
"Abomination Proclaimed Through Heresy" starts off with some heavy old school style metal riffs and drums with lead to some screams and after awhile the music goes more into a doomy direction while keeping the black metal screams around and after a few minutes there is a brief use of 80's style metal guitar solos before returning to the rhythms and having some quest vocals from Dana Duffey of Demonic Christ and they are a spoken words before returning to screams and closing.
"Satanae Regni" begins with some organs and tribal sounding drumming and serves as the closing of the album.
Song lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism and Blasphemy themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy, dark and old school sound to it.
In my opinion Neldoreth are a very great sounding hybrid of satanic black metal and old school death metal and if you are a f an of this musical genre, you should check out t his album.
