NekKralai/Kliudziau/2014 EP Review

    NekKrakai  are  a  band  from  Lithuania  that  plays  a  mixture  of  raw  black  metal  and  punk  rock  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2014  ep  "Kliudziau".

  Spoken  word  samples  start  off  the  ep  along  with  some  clean  playing  and  after  the  intro  a  very  heavy  punk  rock  starts  to  kick  in  along  with  the  heaviness  of  metal  and  a  few  seconds  later  grim  black  metal  screams  are  added  into  the  music  and  the  music  sticks  to  mostly  a  slow  to  mid  paced  musical  direction.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  after  awhile  the  music  starts  to  add  more  raw  black  metal  elements  along  with  some  elements  of  80's  thrash  into  their  blackened  punk  sound  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  anywhere  on  this  recording  until  the  ep  gets  closer  to  the  end  where  they  are  utilized  for  a  few  seconds  and  on  the  last  track  there  is  a  brief  use  of  clean  singing  vocals.

  NekKralai  takes  a  very  raw  and  old  school  style  of  black  metal  and  mixes  it  with  the  energy  of  punk  rock  along  with  a  touch  of  thrash  to  create  their  own  musical  style  which  is  very  retro  and  ignores  all  of  the  modern  trends,  the  production  sounds  very  dark,  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  their  native  tongue  and  cover  dark  and  depressive  themes.  

  In  my  opinion  NekKralai  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  raw  black  metal  and  punk  rock  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ugnim"  and  "W.A.R".  8  out  of  10.
