N.K.V.D are a solo project from France that had had an album reviewed before in this zine and plays an industrial form of black metal and this is a review of his 2016 compilation album "Toltalitarian Industrial Oppression" which was released by Krucyator Productions and consists of 2007 ep "Diktatura" and 2011 full length "Vlast".
Distorted spoken word parts along with some ambient style soundscapes start off the compilation and after the intro the music goes into a heavier direction while also mixing in some synths at times as well as some programmed blast beats and the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams.
Melodies can be heard in some of the guitar riffing and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and when the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling and spoken word samples are also mixed in with the heavier sections of the songs and the tracks also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the songs are also all heavily influenced by industrial.
N.K.V.D plays a style of black metal that is very heavily influenced by industrial and mixes in a great amount of movie samples which also makes the songs stand out a bit more, the production sounds very powerful while the lyrics are written in French cover history, dictatorship, totalitarianism, and oppression themes while some samples are in English.
In my opinion this is a very great sounding collection of work from N.K.V.D and if you are a fan of industrial black metal, you should check out this compilation. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Kadyrovski Klan" "Incipit SSR" "Alkhan-Kala" and "Grozny". 8 out of 10.
