Impure Ziggurat are a band from France that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very raw and occult mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2016 ep "Serenades Of Astral Malevolance" which was released by Magister Dixit.
Melodic ritualistic chants and keyboards start off the ep and after the intro the music starts going into a heavier direction as well as speeding up and adding in blast beats and bestial growls while the tremolo picking gives the music a very raw feeling and the music also incorpotaes a great amount of death metal influences.
Elements of war metal can be heard in the bands musical style and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and there is also a brief use of spoken word parts and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic yet chaotic fashion and all of the musical sticks to a heavy musical direction and the riffs also bring in a small amount of melody and their is also a small amount of grim black metal vocals.
Impure Ziggurat creates another recording that remains true to the black and death metal mixture of their previous release, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover Lost Civilizations and Occult Astrosophy.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Impure Ziggutat and if you are a fan of raw black and death metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Summoning Oorts Semen". 8 out of 10.
