Occasvs are a band from Chile that plays a very raw and melodic mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Nocturnal Majestic Mysteria" which will be released in September by Unspeakable Axe Records.
Thunder and rain sounds start off the album along with some epic sounding synths a few seconds later and they also add in elements of classical music and one the second track the music speeds up along with a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking to give the songs a raw feeling.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with a few growls while the riffs also use a decent amount of melody along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and clean singing can also be heard at times and the solos and leads stick to a very melodic style.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and they also bring in a very ritualistic and shamanistic track before returning back to a heavier direction and the music has a lot of roots in the 90's while still maintaining a very modern atmosphere and when acoustic guitars are utilized they add in a touch of folk music.
Occasvs plays a style of black metal that is very dark, melodic and raw while also mixing in a great amount of death metal influences, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Chthonic Cult, Occultism and Shamanism themes.
In my opinion Occasvs are a very great sounding raw and melodic mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Triumphal Defeat" "Ritual Death" and "Uninon". 8/5 out of 10.
