Morodh are a band from Russia that plays a depressive form of post black metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "The World Of Retribution" which was released by Witching Hour Productions.
A very dark sounding violin starts off the album giving the music an avant garde classical feeling before going into more of a melodic and heavier musical direction that is also very heavily influenced by post metal and after awhile high pitched black metal screams make their presence known on the recording.
When solos and leads are utilized they add more melody to the bands musical style and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the music also mixes in a great amount of depressive black metal elements and the songs also bring in a small amount of whispers and spoken word parts at times.
All of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and as the album progresses clean playing can be heard in certain sections of the recording and one of the tracks brings in melodic vocals and all of the tracks stick either to a slow or mid paced musical direction and there is also a brief use of keyboards being utilized for a few seconds as well as a small amount of blast beats on one of the tracks and they also bring in a short instrumental before closing the album with a vocal track.
Morodh plays a style of depressive black metal that is very melodic and also mixes it in with a lot of post rock elements to create a more modern style of the genre, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover hopelessness, loneliness, and despair themes.
In my opinion Morodh are a very great sounding depressive post black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ritalin" "Desolation" and "Lie". 8 out of 10.
