This is a review of a split ep between California's Sutekh Hexen and Washington's Blsphm which was originally released in 2014 but re-issued in 2017 by Sentient Ruin Laboratories and we will start off the review with Sutekh Hexen a band that has been featured before in this zine and plays a mixture of raw black metal and noise.
Their side of the split starts out with clean playing before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while the vocals are all high pitched black metal screams and you can also hear elements of harsh noise in the song.
Deep demonic growls are also utilized at times while all of the musical instruments sound very powerful and you can also hear a small amount of melody in the riffing, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Msticism, Demons and Witchcraft themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding track from Sutekh Hexen and if you are a fan of raw black metal and noise, you should check out their song.
Next up is Blsphm a project that plays a mixture of black metal and industrial.
His side of the split starts out with heavy riffs, drone and industrial elements while the drums add in blast beats when the music speeds up along with the songs giving the song a very dark atmosphere and the musical is all instrumental and clean playing is also used briefly while the production sounds very dark and raw.
In my opinion Blsphm are a very great sounding mixture of black metal and industrial and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out his side of the split.
In my opinion this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of black metal, noise and dark industrial. 8 out of 10.
