Klingsor are a solo project from Serbia that plays a very raw and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his 2015 demo "Realm Of The Shades" which was released by Narbentge Produktionen.
Ambient style synths start off the demo and they also bring in a variety of many different sounding keys and after the intro the music goes into more of a heavier and atmospheric musical direction along with some grim and high pitched black metal screams making their presence known a few seconds later.
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the songs a more raw feeling while the vocals also get very deep and demonic at times and some of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Acoustic guitars and clean playing are also used briefly as well as a small amount of guitar leads that are done in a very raw and melodic style without using much in the way of solos and as the demo progresses synths also make a brief return along with a few instrumentals and nature sounds.
Klingsor plays a style of black metal that is very raw and atmospheric sounding, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness, dreams and nature themes.
In my opinion Klingsor are a very great sounding raw and atmospheric black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE 'Under A Million Burning Moons" and "Adversary". 8 out of 10.
