Nox Mortis where a band from Germany that played a very atmospheric form of dark/black metal and this is a review of their 1996 album "Im Schatten Des Hasses" which was released by Prophecy Productions.
Drums range from slow to mid paced playing with not much in the way of fast playing or blast beats, while the synths bring a very dark and atmospheric sound to the recording, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars and at times they have a very powerful sound to them.
Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced riffs that combine dark, black and doom metal together to create a sound of their own with some melody being thrown into the riffing, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding heavy metal guitar solos and leads.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams along with some deep death metal growls, whispers, clean singing female vocals and spoken word parts, while the lyrics are written in a mixture of German and English and cover dark and depressive themes, as for the production it h as a very strong, powerful, heavy and dark sound with some of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Nox Mortis where a very great sounding atmospheric hybrid of dark, black and doom metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Lost In Selfhate" and "Castle Of Eternity". RECOMMENDED BUY.
