Black Flame are a band from Italy that plays a very aggressive mixture of black metal with a touch of death metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "The Origin Of Fire" which will be released on March 25th by Avantgarde Music.
A very dark, melodic and atmospheric sound starts off the album and after the intro the music remains melodic but also brings in guitar leads that dominate on a great amount of the tracks as well as taking the music into more of a black metal direction that also utilizes a great amount of blast beats and grim high pitched screams.
A great amount of melody and Swedish black metal influences can be heard quite a bit in the guitar riffing and a great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, spoken word samples can be heard in certain sections of the recording along with a small amount of clean playing being added in at times.
As the album progresses the music starts incorporating more death metal influences along with some of the vocals getting deeper at times along with a few growls being used on some of the tracks but unlike previous recordings the black metal influence takes over most of the songs and they also go for more of the modern occult sound at times while some of the fast riffs do bring a very raw feeling to the recording when they are utilized and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and the last track also brings in a small amount of synths and clean playing to create an avant garde and ritualistic track.
Black Flame plays a style of black metal that is very dark, heavy and melodic and also brings in a touch of death metal at times along with a decent amount of raw aggression and speed that also makes their music sound more diverse, the production sounds very dark, heavy and powerful while the lyrics cover Evil, Anti Christian and Occultism themes.
In my opinion Black Flame are a very great sounding occult black metal band with a touch of death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "My Temple Of Flesh" "On The Trail Of The Serpent" and "The Gateway Of The Sun". 8 out of 10.
