Scolopendra Cingulata are a band from Russia that plays a very raw form of black metal and this is a review of their 2014 demo "Slave Of Darkness" which was released by Grotesque Sounds.
A very dark, raw and lo-fi black metal sound starts off the demo and a minute later grim yet high pitched screams make their presence known onto the recording along with a few melodic guitar leads and the riffs also bring in melodies at times and the music also does add in some fast parts and blast beats.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the music also does bring in a small amount of atmospheric elements at times along with a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some of the slower sections have a doom metal feeling at times while the main focus remains more on a raw style of black metal and they close the demo with a very atmospheric sounding outro.
Scolopendra Cingulata creates a style of black metal that is very grim, dark, raw and heavy in the true traditional of the genre, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover death, pain and hell.
On my opinion Scolopendra Cingulata are a very great sounding raw black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Winter Funeral". 8 out of 10.
