Imsar are a solo project from Belarus that plays a chtonic form of black metal and this is a review of his 2013 album "Abudzenne" which was released by NitroAtmosfericum Records.
Dark nature sounds and wolfs howling start off the album along with some clean playing and whispers and spoken word parts a few seconds later and after the intro the music starts getting more heavy and melodic along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them which also takes the music into more of a black metal direction.
Throughout the recording there is a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and when vocals are added into the music they are grim sounding screams and some of the faster sections also bring in a great amount of blast beats and a great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length and as the album progresses the music starts adding in more of a raw black metal feeling while still keeping around the melodies and one of the tracks starts out semi clean and also brings back spoken word before making a return back to a heavier direction while clean playing is also used again on the last song.
Imsfar creates a chtonic and pagan style of black metal that is very raw and melodic while also being very dark at the same time, the production sounds very dark and raw yet powerful at the same time while the lyrics are written in the composers Native Tongue and covers the paganism of his home land and swamp spirits.
In my opinion Imsfar are a very great sounding chtonic black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Zdani pa-nad Dryhvaj" "Biezvychodnasc" and "Slach Razburennia". 8 out of 10.
