Glorior Belli are a band from France that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording played more of a raw and traditional style of black metal and this is a review of their 2005 album "O Laudate Dominvs" which will be re-issued in June by Ascension Monuments Media.
A very dark and ritualistic sounding intro starts off the album along with some Gregorian chants before going into a heavier direction which also introduces grim black metal screams onto the recording while the riffs also use a great amount of dark sounding melodies and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is utilized it gives the songs a more raw feeling while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them as well as one of the later tracks being an instrumental and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style.
On this recording Glorior Belli played more of traditional style of black metal instead of the more southern metal influenced style of previous releases, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover Satanism, Luciferian and Occultism themes.
In my opinion this was a very great sounding recording from Glorior Belli and if you are a fan of occult black metal, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "O Laudate Dominus" "Eternal Torments" and "Stigma Diaboli". 8 out of 10.
