Eigengrau are a duo from Australia that plays a weird mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2018 ep "Sentence" which was released by Hammerkrieg Productions.
Distorted amp noises start off the ep along with some spoken word samples a few seconds later before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking along with some crazy black metal screams and schizophrenic style shouts.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some death metal growls also being used at times and the solos and leads give the music more of a progressive edge while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them as well as the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the closing track adds in elements of harsh noise.
Eigengrau plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in black metal while also adding in some death metal elements along with some weird and avant garde touches to create something very different, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Chaos, Crowley and Esoteric themes.
In my opinion Eigengrau are a very great sounding weird mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sentence (part ii)" and "Blood Milk". 8 out of 10.
