Lykhaeon are a band from Switzerland that plays an occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 ep "Omnius Eradication Of Anguished Souls" which will be released in June by Godz of War Productions.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the ep before going into a faster direction which also uses a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking which also gives the songs a more raw feeling while the vocals are mostly hateful black metal screams which get deep in some parts and high pitched in other sections.
Both of the tracks are very long and epic in length while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with both of them being very long and epic in length and at times the music also evokes a very ritualistic and avant garde atmosphere as well as some tortured screams and spoken word parts being used briefly and the guitar leads also add in a decent amount of dissonant structures, bestial growls can also be heard briefly and a small amount of choir vocals are added onto the second track.
Lykhaeon plays a style of occult black metal that is very modern while still having the darkness and atmosphere of the classic era, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover Chthonic themes.
In my opinion Lykhaeon are a very great sounding occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Chthonios I". 8 out of 10.
