Casket Huffer are a band from Wyoming that plays a mixture of war, black, and death metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Gospels Of Scum" which was released by Hibernation Release Records.
A very heavy guitar sound starts off the album along with some deep death metal growls a few seconds later and after awhile dark yet melodic guitar leads are added onto the recording and when the music speeds up a great amount of brutal blast beats can be heard along with the vocals getting very bestial.
A great amount of tremolo picking and war metal elements can be heard during the faster sections of the songs along with all of the musical instruments sounding very powerful while black metal screams can also be heard at times and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
All of the musical instruments that are present on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and as the album progresses slight touches of first wave black and speed metal can be heard in some of the riffing as well as the solos and leads sticking to a very chaotic style while the album also remains very heavy, raw and brutal from beginning to ending of the recording.
Casket Huffer plays a musical style that takes the heaviest elements of war, black and death metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover dark and hateful themes.
In my opinion Casket Huffer are a very great sounding mixture of black, war and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Inertia' "Stygian Tongues" "Cursed" and "Extol Unholy Adoration". 8 out of 10.
