Ordoxe are a band from Quebec, Canada and on this recording plays a very raw and melodic form of black metal with some elements of death, doom, and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Towards Eternity" which will be released on March 31st by Horror Pain Gore Death Records.
A very heavy and melodic sound starts off the album along with some grim yet high pitched black metal screams a few seconds later while death metal growls can also be heard at times and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording along with the slower sections of the songs mixing in elements of doom metal.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs a more raw black metal feeling while the solos and leads are done in a very melodic fashion and you can also hear a great amount of thrash influences throughout the recording and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and as the album progresses a brief use of acoustic guitars can be heard while the main focus remains more on a heavier style.
Ordoxe creates a recording that is mostly rooted in more of a raw and melodic style of black metal while also mixing in elements of thrash, doom and death metal to create a very heavy recording, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover mythological, darkness, grimness, and powerful themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Ordoxe and if you are a fan of raw and melodic black metal with touches of doom, death and thrash metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "We Are Eternal" "Your Sorrow, My Sorrow" "A Passage In Time" and "The Essence Of Life". 8 out of 10.
