Nemus are a band from Germany that plays an atmospheric form of post black metal and this is a review of their self released 2017 album "Wald-Mensch".
Nature sounds start off the album along with some classical guitars and keyboards a few seconds later and after the intro the music goes into more of a heavy and melodic musical direction along with all of the instruments sounding very powerful and after awhile spoken yet grim black metal style vocals are added onto the recording.
Most of the solos and leads are done in a very melodic post metal style and when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can be heard along with the tremolo picking giving the songs more of a raw black metal edge and nature sounds are also mixed in the heavier sections of the music briefly.
A great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the vocals also add in a few depressive screams and as the album progresses clean playing also makes a return in certain sections of the recording and one track is an acoustic instrumental and folk instruments are added onto the closing song.
Nemus plays a style of post black metal that is very atmospheric while also being very heavy at the same time as well as having its depressive moments, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics are written in German and cover dark and depressive themes.
In my opinion Nemus are a very great sounding atmospheric post black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Nimm Mich Zu Dur" and "Lass Mich Sterben". 8 out of 10.
