Burial Shrine are a band from Vancouver B.C, Canada that plays a very raw and aggressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Labyrinth of Bridges" which will be released in September by Saturnal Records.
Atmospheric soundscapes start off the album before going into more of a heavier and melodic musical direction along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them while the vocals are mostly grim black metal screams as well as the solos and leads being done in a very chaotic style.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs a more raw feeling while the vocals sound very deep at times along with the tracks also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, most of the music sounds very modern but also adding in some old school influences and the last track is very long and epic in length and also introduces violins onto the recording.
Burial Shrine plays a style of black metal that is very fast, raw and aggressive in a more modern direction, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover darkness and occultism themes along with some songwriting from Johannes Nefastos.
In my opinion Burial Shrine are a very great sounding raw and aggressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "To Walk The Edge Of Infinity" "To See Beyond The Mask" and "Labyrinth Of Bridges". 8 out of 10.
