Australia's Vixenta have returned with a new song which continues the atmospheric and depressive style of post black metal from their previous releases and this is a review of their self released 2021 single "A Dream In Darkness".
A very dark and atmospheric sound starts off the song along with a very powerful bass guitar sound in the background. When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the track more of a raw feeling while the solos and leads are done in a very melodic post metal style.
Vocals are mostyl high pitched depressive black metal screams along with some clean playing also being utilized briefly and the song also adds in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dreams, loneliness and isolation themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding track from Vixenta and if you are a fan of atmospheric and depressive post black metal, you should check out this single. 8 out of 10.
