Procession Of Spectres are a band from Ireland that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays an atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of t heir 2020 ep which wa s re-issued in 2023 by Fiadh Productions.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the ep along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them and the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while elements of doom metal can also be heard in the slower sections of the songs. At times the vocals also go into a deeper direction along with all of the tracks also being very long and epic in length and the music also has its atmospheric moments. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style, spoken word parts can also be heard on a couple of tracks and clear vocals are also added on the closing song.
On this recording Procession Of Spectres had more of a doom metal influence to their atmospheric style of black metal which was also different from the previous release. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Irish History, Famine, Suffering and Death themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Procession Of Spectres and if you are a fan of atmospheric black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Salt of The Earth (Salann An Domhain)". 8 out of 10.
