Illusive Key are a n international band with embers from Germany and Belgium that plays a traditional and hallucinogenic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2025 album "Consume Us" which will be released in October by Amor Fati Productions.
Synths start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the recording at times while clean playing is also utilized at times. Most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
Vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams while the music also adds in influences from both the modern and old school era's of the genre. Throughout the album you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody, when guitar solos and leads are utilized they also bring in a very dark yet melodic style.
Illusive Key plays a style of black metal that is very aggressive and traditional sounding as well as being very creative at the same times. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness and paranormal themes.
In my opinion Illusive Key are a very great sounding traditional and hallucinogenic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Disseverence" and "Consume Us". 8 out of 10.
