A very dark sounding intro starts off the album before going into a heavier direction while the faster sections of the songs also add in war metal elements and brutal blast beats. Vocals are done in more of an angry black metal style and the tremolo picking in the fast riffs also gives the recording more of a raw feeling.
Bestial growls are also utilized at times while some of the riffing also adds in a small amount of melody. The album also adds in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the solos and leads also being done in a very chaotic style when they are utilized, all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them and both synths and clean playing can also be heard briefly. as well a s the closing track also adding i spoken words
Hoc Est Bellum plays a musical style that takes war, black and death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of t heir own. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover Occultism, Blasphemy, War and Horror themes.
In my opinion Hoc Est Bellum are a very great sounding bestial mixture of war, black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Black Metal Terror" "Blood of The Wytches" "Winds Of Decay" and "the Goatborn Ones". 8 out of 10.
