Zebulon Kosted/Dragon's Blood-Die Nibelungen Part One/Kapustin Yar Records/2009 CD Review

Zebulon Kosted are a one man project from Missoula, Montana that has also been interviewed by this zine with a style that is a very raw form of black metal mixed with doom metal, experimental, noise and folk music and this is a review of their 2009 album "Dragon's Blood - Die Nibelungen Part One" which was released by Kapustin Yar Records.

Drums are mostly slow to mid paced drumming with some fast playing and blast beats, while the bass playing has a very dark and powerful tone that is very easy to hear on this recording, as for the noise effects they bring a very dark and avant garde edge to the music with a very dark sounding synth being used at times.

Rhythm guitars are mostly slow, mid paced to fast raw black metal riffs that also take in a lot of influences from doom metal, while the lead guitars are very primal sounding black metal guitar leads, as for the classical guitars when they are utilized they bring a very dark folk music feel to the recording with a lot of finger picking and full chords.

Vocals are all high pitched black metal screams, while the lyrics cover Paganism, Inter-Dimensional Travel, World History and Cryptids, as for the production it is very dark and raw sounding but you can still hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.

In my opinion Zebulon Kosted are a very good band and if you are a fan of more experimental sounding black metal you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED BUY.
