Perdition Hearse/Soul Transition/A Change In The Underworlds/Old House Records/2026 Split Album Review

This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Norway's  Perdition  Hearse  and  Soul  Transition  called  a  "A  Change  In  The  Underworld"  which  was  released  by  Old  House  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Perdition  Hearse  a  band  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  an  old  school  form  of  black  metal.

Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  keyboards  and  black  metal  screams  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  Most  of  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  old  school  erta  of the  genre  while  dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  riffing  and  elements  of thrash  metal  can  also  be  heard  at  times.

When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  along  with  a  couple  of  tracks  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  acoustic  guitars.  Clear  singing  is  also  used  at  times as  well  as  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  spoken  words  are  utilized  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  occultism,  death  and  darkness  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Perdition  Hearse  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  old  school  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Mindtripper"  and  "Fanitullen".

Next  up  is  Soul  Transition  a  band  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black  and  thrash  metal.

Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  thrash  metal  influenced  sound  while  the  vocals  add  in  more  of  a  clear  singing  style  with  some  black  metal  aggression.  Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  briefly  as  well  as  most  of  the  songs  sticking  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction,  fast  playing  and  blast beats  are  also  introduced  on  a  later  song,  some  of  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  small  amount  of  melody.  The  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  death,  dying  and  mythological  themes.

In  my  opinion  Soul  Transition  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black  and  thrash  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "The  Call  From  Within".

In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  old  school  black  and  thrash  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  8  out  of  10.
