Einherjer are a band from Norway that plays a very atmospheric form of viking/black metal with folk music elements and this is a review of their 1997 album "Dragons Of The North" which was released by Napalm Records.
Drums range from slow to mid paced drumming with not much in the way of fast playing or blast beats, while the synths bring a very dark, atmospheric and medievel sound to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very strong and powerful sound with riffs that dominate throughout the recording.
Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced viking/pagan black metal riffs that utilize a great amount of traditional metal influences and melodies being thrown into the riffing with the songs being somewhat long and epic in length, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding viking metal guitar solos and leads, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized they use finger picking and full chords to bring a folk music feeling to the music.
Vocals range from grim sounding pagan/black metal screams, rough viking metal vocals and clean singing, while the lyrics cover Norse Paganism and Viking themes with most of the music being written in English along with one song being written in Norwegian, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Einherjer are a very great sounding atmospheric viking/black metal band with folk music elements and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dragons Of The North" "Fimbul Winter" and "Slaget Ved Hartsfjord". RECOMMENDED BUY.
