Viking Crown where a band from New Orleans, Louisiana that consists of veterans from both the mainstream and underground metal scenes with a musical style that I would describe as being raw and primitive sounding atmospheric satanic black metal and this is a review of their 2000 album "Innocence From Hell" which was released by Baphomet Records.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being thrown into the music at times along with a brief use of tribal and ritualistic drumming being utilized on one song, while the keyboards bring a very dark, atmospheric, ambient and ritualistic sound to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding in the early 90's vein, while the lead guitars are very chaotic sounding black metal guitar solos and leads.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding and high pitched black metal screams with some spoken word ritualistic parts being thrown into the music at times as well as some deep growls in addition there is a brief use of chanting being utilized on one song, while the lyrics cover Satanism and Devil Worship, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Viking Crown where a very great sounding raw and primitive atmospheric satanic/black metal band and while a lot of people never gave this band a chance because one of the members played in a mainstream band, I still thought the music was very good and underrated and if you are looking for some that is very evil, check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Innocence From Hell" "The Red Flames Of Sin" "The Long And Mighty Reign Of Satan" and "Raped By An Angel". RECOMMENDED BUY.
