Nastrond are a band from Sweden that has been featured before in this zine with a musical sound I would describe as being atmospheric, occult black metal and this is a review of their 2008 album "Muspellz Synir" which was released by Debemur Morti Productions.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being utilized at times, while the synths bring an atmospheric, ritualistic and occult sound to the recording, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast occult black metal riffs that use some raw and primitive sounding elements as well as melody and doom metal influences in the riffing, while the lead guitars are very raw and primitive sounding black metal guitar solos and leads.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams with deep demonic growls being used at times as well as a brief use of Gregorian chanting, while the lyrics cover Occultism, Asataru and Left Hand Path themes with a couple of songs being written in Swedish, as for the production it has a very dark, heavy, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion this is another great recording from Nastrond and if you are a fan of atmospheric occult black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Fenrir Prophesy" "Dark Fyres" "Calling The Serpentine" and "Nastrond". RECOMMENDED BUY.
