This is the final review of a recording from Blackend Horizon which continues their crust influenced atmospheric black metal sound while also adding in new elements with the ep being self released in 2013 and called "IV".
Drum programming ranges from slow, mid paced to fast beats, while the synths when they are utilized bring a very dark and atmospheric sound to the recording, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars and at times they have a very powerful sound to them.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast atmospheric black metal riffs that are very raw and primitive sounding with some crust elements as well as some soft and clean playing that bring some post rock elements to the recording and there a re no guitar solos or leads present on this recording, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized they use finger picking and full chords to add more variety to the recording.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams that have a depressive tone to them with some spoken word parts being utilized, while the lyrics are written in a mixture of German and English and cover dark and anti war themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound while you can still hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion this is another great sounding ep from Blackend Horizon and if you are a fan of crust influenced raw and primitive sounding atmospheric black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "..kalter Regen" and "A Land Of War". RECOMMENDED BUY.
