Hermodr are a 1 man band from Sweden that plays a very depressive from of pagan black metal and this is a review of their self titled 2012 demo which was released by Fallen Empire Records.
Drums range from slow to mid paced playing with no fast drumming or blast beats being present on this recording, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced depressive black metal riffs that are very dark and atmospheric sounding with some primitive and melodic elements being thrown into the riffing at times, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding atmospheric black metal guitar leads.
Vocals range from high pitched depressive black metal screams to clean singing pagan vocals as well as a brief spoken word part, while the lyrics are written in Swedish and cover Northern Heritage themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it with the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Hermodr are a very great sounding atmospheric, depressive pagan/black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Slutet Pa Hans Sista Resa". RECOMMENDED BUY.
