Funeral In Heaven are a band from Sri Lanka that has been featured before in this zine with a musical sound I would describe as being ethnic occult black metal and this is a review of their 2010 live ep "Shanthikarma" which was released by Hypnotic Dirge Records.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being utilized at times as well as some tribal sounding percussion work, while the folk instruments bring a very ethnic, ritualistic and occult sound to the recording when they are utilized, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast occult black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding with some melody being thrown into the riffing at times as well as some soft and clean playing and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams along with a brief use of deep demonic growls, while the lyrics cover Sri Lankian Demonology, Occultism, Left Hand Path and Black Witchcraft themes, as for t he production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound with all of the songs being recorded live.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Funeral In Heaven and if you are a fan of raw and primitive ethnic occult black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Origins Of Evil[Abhaawaya]" and "The Winds Of Uva[Wellasse Hatana]". RECOMMENDED BUY.
