Nontinuum are a 1 man band from Australia that plays a very atmospheric and depressive form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2012 ep "The Stars You Gathered".
Drums range from slow to mid paced to drumming with some blast beats being present on this recording, while the bass playing has a very strong and powerful sound with heavy riffing that dominates throughout the recording, as for the synths when they are utilized they bring a dark ambient sound to the recording.
Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced atmospheric black metal riffs that use some raw and primitive sounding elements as well as some melody and progressive parts in the riffing to create a sound of their own, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding post black metal guitar leads that do not really go into solos.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding and high pitched black metal screams that utilize a depressive tone to them at times as well as some clean singing along with a brief use of spoken word parts being utilized on the last song, while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes, while the production has a very dark, heavy, raw and primitive sound while you can still hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording along with some of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Nontinuum are a very great sounding atmospheric, melodic and depressive black metal b and and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Swallow" and "The Gatherer". RECOMMENDED BUY.
