Axis Of Light/Death Fortress/Fallen Empire Records/2013 Split EP Review

This  is  a  review  of  a  split  ep  between  U.K's  Axis  Of  Light  and  New  Jersey's  Death  Fortress  which  was  released  by  Fallen  Empire  Records  in  2013  and  we  will  start  of  the  review  with  Axis  Of  Light  who play  a  very  raw  and  primitive  form  of  black  metal.

Drums  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced   to  fast  playing  with  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  heavy,  raw  and  primitive  sounding  in  the  old  school  tradition  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or leads  present  on  their  side  of  the  recording.

Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  and  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  with  some  deep  demonic  growls  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  misanthropic  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  raw  and  primitive  sound  with  only  2  songs  being  present  on  their side  of the  recording.

In  my  opinion  Axis  Of  Light  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  primitive  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Secrets  Of  The  Tomb".  RECOMMENDED.

Next  up  is  Death  Fortress  a  band  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  primitive  form  of  old  school  black  metal.

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of the  guitars.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  old  school  raw and  primitive  sounding  in  the  90's  tradition  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  their  side  of  the  recording.

Vocals  are  mostly  deep  demonic  black/death  metal  growls  along   with  some  grim  sounding  high  pitched  black  metal  screams,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  themes,  as  for the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  with  their  only  song  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my  opinion  Death  Fortress  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school  raw  and  primitive  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out t heir  side  of  the  recording.  RECOMMENDED.

In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  primitive  black  metal,  you  should  add  this  ep  to  your  collection.  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
