Animo Aeger are a band from Germany that plays a very depressive and avant garde form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "KotzeAdel" which was released by Bleeding Heart Nihilist Productions.
A very fast and raw black metal sound starts off the album along with a great amount of blast beats and the vocals bring in a mixture of deep growls and grim screams along with some clean singing that also gives the music an avant garde feeling and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the faster riffing uses a great amount of tremolo picking along with the riffs also using a great amount of melody and the screams also have a depressive edge at times and there is also a brief use of spoken word parts along with a few tracks being very long and epic in length while some songs also add in a small amount of clean playing and keyboards and some songs also add in touches of black'n'roll and there is also a brief instrumental before returning back to a heavier direction.
Animo Aeger plays a style that takes the raw, depressive and avant garde styles of black metal and mix in touches of black'nroll to create a very diverse recording, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in German and cover Aspects Of Life And Humanity and Refuge in Lunacy themes.
In my opinion Animo Aeger are a very great sounding depressive, avant garde black metal band and if you are looking for something different, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Manipulazitzen" "Galeere Ekel" and "Kosmenhort". 8 out of 10.
