Neoheresy are a solo project from Poland that has been featured before in this zine and plays a pagan form of black metal with folk and symphonic elements and this is a review of his 2017 album "Oblawa" which was released by Elegy Records.
Symphonic and epic sounds start off the album along with some clean yet distorted guitars and spoken word parts along with choirs are also used briefly and after the intro the music goes into more of a heavier and melodic musical direction while also keeping all of the elements from the intro and the guitar leads also use a great amount of melody.
When vocals are added onto the recording they are mostly grim black metal screams and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording and when acoustic guitars are utilized they add elements of folk music into the songs and ethnic instruments are also used at times and when guitar leads are used they are done in a very melodic fashion and all of the songs stick to either a slow or mid paced musical direction and the last track is very long and epic in length.
Neoheresy creates a style of pagan/black metal on this recording that is more different than most bands of this genre while also keeping the symphonic and folk elements of previous releases, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Polish and cover paganism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Neoheresy and if you are a fan of pagan/black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Karzel" and "Dwa Zywidy". 8 out of 10.
