Nine Covens are a band from the United Kingdom that has material reviewed before in this zine and plays an occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2017 ep "The Unknowing Servants" which was released by Uthar Records.
Raw tremolo picki9ng starts off the ep along with some high pitched black metal screams a few seconds later and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark yet melodic style and when the music speeds up blast beats can be heard.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the guitar riffing also brings in a decent amount of melody and they close the ep with a cover of Bathory's "The Return Of Darkness And Evil" and add a more raw approach than the original version.
Nine Covens creates a recording that remains true to the raw occult black metal style of previous releases, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover Darkness and Occultism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Nine Covens and if you are a fan of occult black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Thy Unknowing Servants". 8 out of 10.
