First Martyr are a band from Russia that plays a very raw and satanic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "End Of Fucking Faith" which was released by Anthrazit Records.
Melodic yet ritualistic chants start off the album before going into more of a heavier and melodic musical direction and when the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which can heard and they also give the songs more of a raw feeling along with the vocals being mostly black metal screams.
A lot of the music has its roots in the 90's second wave style while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and as the album progresses clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording as well as some of the riffing also adding in more of a modern style that is still very traditional and some of the later songs also adds in a brief use of satanic prayers and spoken word samples and they also bring in a cover of Mayhem's "Freezing Moon".
First Martyr plays a style of black metal that is very raw, satanic and traditional sounding, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover Satanism, Darkness and Blasphemous themes.
In my opinion First Martyr are a very great sounding raw and satanic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "666" "Smoldering Flesh Temple" "End Of Faith" and "Image Of Dying Victims, Mournful Plea Of Helplessness". 8 out of 10.
