Uten Hap are a solo project from Svalbard that plays a depressive form of black metal and this is a review of his 2018 album "Life Obliteration" which will be released in August by Cult of Osiris.
Distorted noises start off the album before going into a heavier direction which also introduces high pitched depressive black metal screams onto the recording along with the riffs also bringing in a great amount of dark sounding melodies while melodic guitar leads can also be heard at times.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length while one song also introduces tragic sounding keyboards onto the recording along with the music having it atmospheric moments as well as some blast beats and tremolo picking which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling when they are utilized briefly and a later track also adds in a small amount of clean guitars.
Uten Hap plays a style of black metal that is very slow, atmospheric, raw and depressive sounding, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes.
In my opinion Uten Hap are a very great sounding depressive black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Life Obliteration" "Non-Existent" and "Forever unseen". 8 out of 10.
