Nirnaeth are a band from France that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays black metal with elements of death and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "From Shadow To Flesh" which was released by Malpermesita Records.
Distorted amp noises start off the album before going into a heavier direction while the riffs also bring in a great amount of dark sounding melodies along with the faster sections of the songs also bringing in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
Grim black metal screams can also be heard quite a bit throughout the recording along with some death metal growls also being used at times while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as the solos and leads giving the music more of an old school style and the riffs also mix in elements of thrash metal., all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and as the album progresses spoken word parts, clean playing and classical guitars can also be heard briefly.
On this recording Nirnaeth plays a style of black metal that is very dark, raw and melodic sounding along with some touches of death and thrash metal, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are a concept album based upon dealing with possession seen through the eyes of the antagonists.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Nirnaeth and if you are a fan of black metal with some death and thrash metal influences, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dying Of The Day" "Cursed" "Once A Shadow" and "Forgotten And Chained". 8 out of 10.
