Cabra are a duo from Cleveland, Ohio that plays a very fast, aggressive and melodic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Cold, When the End Comes" which was released by Colossal Force Records.
Grim black metal screams start off the album along with some melodic guitar leads a few seconds later while the faster sections of the songs also use a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling along with the music also being very heavily rooted in the 90's Swedish style.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while some of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with the riffs also adding in a great amount of melody as well as one track also introducing clean playing into the music and one track also adds in a small amount of chants and nature sounds before returning back to a heavier direction and growls are also added into some parts of the music.
Cabra plays a style of black metal that is very fast, aggressive and melodic sounding in the 90's Swedish tradition, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover war, destruction, misanthropy and anti religion themes.
In my opinion Cabra are a very great sounding fast, aggressive and melodic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Decimation" "Cold, When The End Comes" and "The Empty Corridor". 8 out of 10.
