Astrophobos are a band from Sweden that plays a very ferocious and melodic form of black metal and this is a review of their album "Malice Of Antiquity" which will be released in 2019 by Triumvirate Records.
Grim black metal screams start off the album before going into a very fast and melodic musical direction while the faster sections of the songs also bring in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling along with the solos and leads also adding in a great amount of melody.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with the music also being very heavily rooted in the 90's Swedish style as well as a couple of tracks track also introducing clean playing and spoken word parts onto the recording and growls are also added into some parts of the music and as the album progresses a small amount of classical guitars can also be heard on a few songs.
Astrophobos plays a style of black metal that is very ferocious and melodic sounding in the 90's Swedish tradition, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the writings of H.P Lovecraft and Cosmic Horror themes.
In my opinion Astrophobos are a very great sounding ferocious and melodic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Fire Of Catharsis" "Abattoir For Flesh And Faith" "Until The Red Of Dawn" and "Imperator Noctis". 8 out of 10.
