Enon Chapel are a duo from the United States that plays a very raw and lo-fi form of black metal and this is a review of their self released ep which will be released in 2019 by Acephale Winter Productions.
Bell sounds start off the ep along with some horror movie style synths also being used briefly while their is also a brief use of slide guitars and spoken word samples and whispers before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while the riffs also mix in elements of punk and thrash along with some melodic riffing also being used at times as well as the solos and leads also using a great amount of melody and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and the closing track is very long and epic in length.
Enon Chapel plays a style of black metal that is very raw and lo-fi sounding while also adding in some elements of thrash and punk to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover the darker aspects of Victorian Era England.
In my opinion Enon Chapel are a very great sounding raw and lo-fi black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Miasma From The Charnel House" and "The Unscrupulous Reverend Howse". 8 out of 10.
